What is Ohoskin®?
Ohoskin® is a coated textile made using by-products of Sicilian oranges and cactus pad. An alternative to leather, it is available in materials with different compositions, finishes and technical properties.

What is your mission?
We develop materials using Sicilian orange by-products, connecting our territory with Italian manufacturing excellence. With Ohoskin®, we help brands bring together design, technical requirements and a story rooted in Sicily.
Where is Ohoskin® produced?
Ohoskin® is entirely produced in Italy. Our Italian supply and production chain brings together established industrial partners, supporting oversight of production and material quality.
Is Ohoskin® patented?
Yes. Ohoskin® holds patent protection for its material technology and production process. Coverage depends on the patent and jurisdiction. Contact us for details.
How does the production process work?
Orange-processing by-products are prepared and incorporated into a polymer-based coating applied to a textile backing. Formulation, backing and finishing vary depending on the material.
Why Sicilian oranges?
Our connection to Sicily starts with its oranges. We recover peel and pulp from juice production and use them as components of our coating formulations, giving these processing by-products a new use.
Is the production process scalable?
Yes. We work with industrial manufacturing partners to scale production according to demand. Capacity, specifications and lead times are agreed for each project.
Is Ohoskin® entirely plant-based?
No. Ohoskin® is a composite material combining a polymer-based coating with a textile backing. The proportion of bio-based components varies by material.
Is the supply chain traceable and Made in Italy?
Yes. Ohoskin® is produced through an Italian supply chain. We work with our suppliers and manufacturing partners to document material sourcing and production stages.
What sets Ohoskin® apart?
Our expertise combines material design, formulations using Sicilian orange and cactus pad by-products, and Italian manufacturing. Industrial partnerships support production at scale.
How does Ohoskin® relate to the circular economy?
We use by-products from orange processing as components of new materials. This describes the reuse of a feedstock; it does not mean the finished material has a fully closed life cycle.
What certifications and standards apply to Ohoskin®?
REACH compliance information and technical documents are available by material. Ohoskin® has received LAV’s VVV+ Animal-Free Fashion rating. Our partners’ ISO certifications apply to their own certified activities.
What does bio-based mean?
Bio-based describes the biological origin of a share of a material. Any percentage must be read with its test method and calculation basis; it does not mean the entire material is plant-based.
What does bio-attributed mean?
Bio-attributed refers to biological feedstocks allocated to a product through a documented supply-chain system, such as mass balance. This allocation is distinct from physically measured bio-based content.

Which brands have chosen Ohoskin®?

Is Ohoskin® recyclable?
Recycling depends on the material, textile backing, finished product and available treatment facilities. Contact us to discuss the options for your application; recyclability is not a claim we make for the entire range.
Does Ohoskin® contain animal-derived ingredients?
No. Ohoskin® uses no animal-derived components in its formulations or textile backings. This describes its composition and does not establish an overall environmental benefit.
Is Ohoskin® durable?
Materials in our range have been tested for properties such as abrasion, tensile strength, heat, light and humidity resistance. Results depend on the material and test conditions. Request the relevant technical datasheet.
What does cradle-to-gate mean?
Cradle-to-gate covers the stages from raw materials to the material leaving production. It excludes use and end of life. See our carbon footprint study for its specific scope.
Does Ohoskin® have a lower impact than other materials?
A comparison requires equivalent functions, methods and study boundaries. ClimatePartner calculated a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint for the formulation studied; this result does not represent every Ohoskin® material.
Which technical tests are available?
Tests vary by material and application. Request the relevant datasheet for test methods, results and the configuration assessed. Results for one material do not apply automatically to the whole range.
Which applications can Ohoskin® be used for?
Our range includes materials for clothing, footwear, bags, accessories and interiors. For automotive, marine or other technical applications, contact us to check the relevant material against your project’s requirements.
How should I clean Ohoskin®?
Follow the care instructions for the specific material and finished product. Check detergent compatibility and test on a discreet area before cleaning.
Do you help brands communicate about Ohoskin®?
Yes. We provide a communication kit with visuals, digital content and information about the material used. We can also discuss joint projects and suggest manufacturing partners for accessories or interiors.
Can we develop a project using other by-products?
We assess projects using other processing by-products, as well as bespoke corporate gifts. Email adrianasantanocito@ohoskin.com or stefanomazzetti@ohoskin.com to discuss feasibility, timing and requirements.
Orders and supply
How can I buy Ohoskin®?
Order samples from one linear metre in our online shop. For two to ten metres, production quantities or specific requests, email sales@ohoskin.com and we will help you select the material.
What is the material width?
The standard width is 1.40 m, unless otherwise specified for the material. At this width, one linear metre equals 1.40 m². Textures, thicknesses and colours vary by material.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Stock materials have no production MOQ; purchasable cut lengths depend on the material and format. Custom colours and dedicated production have minimum quantities. Email sales@ohoskin.com for a quote.
How much does Ohoskin® cost?
Sample prices are listed in our shop. Production quotes depend on the material, quantity and customisation required. Contact sales@ohoskin.com for a tailored quotation.
Do you have materials in stock?
Yes. We regularly stock selected textures and colours. Email sales@ohoskin.com with the material and quantity required to confirm current availability.
Can I order custom colours or textures?
Yes, subject to technical feasibility and minimum quantities. Send Pantone references or a physical sample to sales@ohoskin.com. Colour trials typically take 7–10 working days; timing is confirmed for each request.
What are the delivery times?
Stock orders typically ship within two weeks; custom production generally takes 4–6 weeks. Transit time depends on the destination and courier. We confirm the schedule for each order.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We supply customers worldwide. You can also arrange collection in Italy with your preferred courier. Shipping options, costs and any destination-specific requirements are confirmed for each order.
Can I receive your catalogues?
Yes. Email sales@ohoskin.com with your sector and application to request our digital catalogues. We will help you identify the materials to explore.
Can students buy material for a project?
Yes. Students can order samples from our shop. For specific requests, tell us about your project and the format required, and we will assess the available options.
Can you supply large quantities?
Yes. Our manufacturing partners support industrial-scale supply. Share the material, volumes and project schedule with sales@ohoskin.com so we can confirm production capacity and supply arrangements.
